For over one hundred years, the Daughters of the British Empire (DBE) has been a common bond for women of British heritage living in America.
The DBE is a non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian American organization. One of our primary goals is to create fellowship and friendship between British Commonwealth immigrants in their communities.
Our main objective is to host fundraising events to support one of four retirement homes, known as the British Homes, which were established by the DBE.
We also support local nonprofits such as the Women’s and Children’s Alliance, Dress for Success, the Idaho Food Bank, and Operation: Military Kids.
Membership in the DBE is organized through local chapters, and meetings are held monthly, usually followed by an informal get together over a cup of tea or coffee. In this way, friendships are formed and mutual heritage becomes a comforting and familiar bond.

Membership is extended by invitation to women residing in the USA who are of British or British Commonwealth heritage by birth, naturalization, or proven ancestry, and to women who are the wives or partners of persons of British or Commonwealth heritage by birth, naturalization, or proven ancestry.
Junior membership is available for eligible girls 13-18 years of age.
We also have a “Members at Large” program for eligible women who reside in states where there are presently no state societies.
Don't qualify for membership? Consider becoming a "Friend of DBE" - this is suitable for ladies and gentlemen who would like to support our work and affiliate themselves with the DBE.
